What to Expect

Expectations for wedding photographers is supperrrr high and so I want to walk you through what I do on a wedding. It’ll be matched with images to show you what to expect when you choose me as your photographer.

THE MORNING

It’s all about balance. I’m there to be your photographer, you’re there to have fun and celebrate one of the biggest days of your life.

So, If you’re having me there all day, then we’ll start at prep.

I will:

  • Arrive 3 - 4 hours before your ceremony

  • Use the first 15 minutes to say hello, meet and great the wedding party and family, and to get my kit ready for what I need.

  • I’ll use the next 15 - 30 minutes photographing all your details and bits, while talking and getting to know you all some more too.

  • Then, we focus on hair, make up and anything else that might be going on.

If you’re wearing a dress, then I like you to be in it with around 1 hour to go before you leave, that way we can do a first look with parents/family/wedding party, and you get to get comfortable and make sure you have no issues.

Things can go wrong! Shoes can break, someone forget something, you’ve lost something etc etc… so give yourself time. It’s part of my job to keep you calm and to keep having fun, that way we get the best photos of you throughout the morning.

The Ceremony

Your ceremony is where the hard work begins, so once you’re ready and we’ve done your morning photos, I’ll give you a little bit of space. This way, I get to photograph the guests arriving, the details in the ceremony room and speak with the staff and the registrars.

Typically, I’ll be at the alter, with your partner. I’ll make sure we’re ready. Most registrars will be out the way, stood to one side so I get that perfect Walk down the Isle shot.

What happens during the Ceremony;

  • Photos of walking down the isle and partners reaction(s).

  • Snapping away for the smiles and laughs and the little moments you have there together.

  • Guest reactions and any moments that maybe your kids might have

  • Ring exchange

  • First Kiss

  • Signing the paperwork (we do mock ups straight after you’ve signed it so you don’t feel extra pressure when signing and it keeps things flowing nicely)

  • Walking down the isle together for the first time

Where do we go from here? It depends on your plans but if we can, I fully recommend the confetti throw to go straight into group photos!

Confetti & Group Shots

For my next trick, we get everyone lined up for the confetti throw, and, I’ll have a bit of a chat and a laugh with your guests while you and your partner are having a couple of minutes. I’ll get them lined up, teach them how to throw confetti and try to make sure they don’t just launch it at your face… I can’t control your guests but I’ll capture the funny moments too.

And that’s your cue to walk down and be celebrated by your wedding guests! Walk at a nice speed, don’t rush it, enjoy it. It is a good laugh. oh, and SMILE!!!!

Then I like to get straight into group shots, while everyone is already gathered for the confetti throw I’ll take everyone over to the space decided for the groups.

Typically, I’ll do one big group one, then one of both families, then one family, then the next. I’ll send you my recommended list for you to edit!
