A Styled Shoot | Underwater

Being able to be creative and have fun is the best part of my job, so when Jessica got in touch with Megan from Memory Box Media, she called straight away and we couldn’t resist… AN UNDERWATER BRIDAL STYLED SHOOT!

There are shoots that test your skill, some that stretch your creativity—and then there are shoots like this one, where everything comes together in a perfect storm of artistry, collaboration, and pure fun.

This underwater styled shoot was a dream from start to finish. I teamed up with an incredible crew—Jess, Ria, Halo, Megan, and Bambi— who each brought their own unique energy and vision to the project. What started as a bold creative idea quickly turned into one of the most visually striking shoots I’ve ever done.

The Concept
We wanted to create something ethereal—part fantasy, part fashion editorial, part modern fairytale but keeping it bridal all the way. Think floating fabrics, suspended motion, and a haunting kind of beauty only water can deliver. Jess did the hard work and did all the planning and organising the Tank and pulling us all together!

The Experience
Shooting underwater comes with its challenges—timing breath holds, communicating non-verbally, dealing with the unpredictable movement of fabrics—but this team made it effortless. Bambi was a powerhouse in the water, completely at ease, and gave every frame that weightless grace you can’t fake. Using the bubbles and skills from modelling in this tank on several occasions, she really helped make this an easy experience for us.

Myself, Ria, Megan, and Jess kept the energy flowing all day, Snapping and filming to make sure we didn’t miss a thing! From helping with everything from posing ideas to lighting colours and laughter. Halo at Tank Space was amazing to work with, she helped us all with lighting ideas, set up and keeping Bambi safe! (yes, i’m on the floor upside-down… it happens all too often!)

The Results
The images speak for themselves. From the swirling gowns to the vivid colours and dynamic poses, each frame captures something surreal and emotive. It felt like we were telling a story in slow motion—one that lives just beneath the surface.

One of my favourites! And yes, the veil floated off like this on its own! THIS IS NOT AI!

This however, is AI… and I have to say… I’m not a fan. The top of the water with the light leak is great but the generative expand is just… empty black space, which I could have done without AI. Sometimes the information given to AI has to be so specific but honestly, even getting the Tiara right was a pain!

Reflections
These are the shoots that remind me why I love what I do. Not just for the images (though, wow), but for the people, the creative energy, and those unexpected moments where you’re all standing there soaked and laughing, knowing you just made something really special.
